Lightwood Games

Lightwood Games is a small, independent game developer based in Perton, Staffordshire. The company is a specialist developer of puzzles games and began developing games for iOS in 2010. The first app released by Lightwood Games – Word Search Party – was launched later that year. It has now been downloaded nearly two million times. More recently, the company has focused on producing word games and logic puzzles for home and portable consoles, and is delighted to have been able to bring their titles to PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles. Lightwood has partnered with Conceptis Ltd, the world’s leading supplier of logic puzzles, to provide puzzle content for a number of titles, including Sudoku, Pic-a-Pix, Fill-a-Pix and Link-a-Pix games. Through partnerships with publishers Rainy Frog, Starsign and Eastasiasoft, several games have been localized and published in Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Lightwood Games is now authorised to publish on all major console platforms and has new titles in the pipeline for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X|S. Lightwood Games is an independent game developer, owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team. Katherine and Chris finally tied the knot in Las Vegas in October 2013! Lightwood Games is a trading name of Lightwood Consultancy Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company registration number 03737612.

Ubisoft Milan is the renamed version of the former studio Ubi Soft Studios SRL. It contributed to many Ubisoft franchises, among them Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

Epyx

Epyx, Inc. was a video game developer and video game publisher active in the late 1970s and 1980s. The company was founded as Automated Simulations by Jim Connelley and Jon Freeman, originally using Epyx as a brand name for action-oriented games before renaming the company to match in 1983. Epyx published a long series of games through the 1980s. The company is currently owned by Bridgestone Multimedia Group Global.

Creative Business Unit I was an internal development division within Square Enix led by Yoshinori Kitase. It focuses on Final Fantasy single-player titles, spin-offs, SaGa and Kingdom Hearts. The studio was renamed to Creative Studio 1 in April of 2024 as part of a re-organization within Square Enix.

Imagineer

Imagineer Co., Ltd. was established on January 27, 1986 (registered on June 1, 1977) in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, with the goal of developing, manufacturing and selling game software. They acquired the rights to release overseas games in Japan, such as SimCity which they published for PC. They have also worked with companies like Sanrio Co., Ltd. on games featuring popular characters such as Hello Kitty. Imagineer developed the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of Populous, having acquired the rights from Les Edgar. At the time, the company was working with Nintendo. Imagineer also publishes the Medabots game series. In 2016, Imagineer fully absorbed their video game subsidiary company, Rocket Company, merging into one company.

Video System

Video System Co., Ltd. was a game development company that was founded in Japan in December 1984 and ceased operations in 2001. It was responsible for making numerous video games consoles , mainly for the Super Nintendo, Neo Geo, and Nintendo 64. Its founder and director was software designer Koji Furukawa . In 1992, they opened a branch in the United States which was named McO'River, Inc., they obtained the licenses to publish the three Aero Fighters Arcade games America in North and also published the titles Hyper V-Ball and Aero Fighters for SNES. The company released several games in the Japan and United States regions, such as F-1 Grand Prix , Karate Blazers, Tao Taido , Rabbit Punch Turbo Force, Super Volleyball, and its biggest hit, Aero Fighters. The Aero Fighters staff would later split to form their own company, Psikyo. In 1997, McO'River, Inc. changed its name to Video System USA, Inc. Under this new name they released the game Aero Fighters Assault and F-1 World Grand Prix for the Nintendo 64, the latter receiving a published sequel only in Europe. The United States offices closed their doors around 2000 and the Japanese company closed permanently in 2001.

LEVEL-5 Inc is a video game studio founded in October 1998 partly by Sony to develop games for the PS2, their first game was "Dark Cloud". The president of the company is Akihiro Hino. They are known for creating popular video game series like Professor Layton, Yo-kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven and Ni No Kuni.

Cryo Interactive

Cryo Interactive Entertainment was a French game development and publishing company based in Paris, France. Founded in 1990, but existing unofficially since 1989 as a developer group under the name Cryo, the company was known for adventure games based on book licenses or historical themes. The company was dissolved in 2002, and French publisher has since Microids ended up in possession of its brands and intellectual properties.

Playground Games

Playground Games Limited is a British video game developer based in Leamington Spa, England. It is known for developing the Forza Horizon series, which is part of the larger Forza franchise. In 2018, Playground Games became part of Microsoft Studios (now known as Xbox Game Studios). They are also developing the next game in the Fable series.

Spike

Spike was founded in December 1989 as Mizuki Ltd. (有限会社みずき, Yūgen-gaisha Mizuki). Its name was changed to Mizuki Co., Ltd. (株式会社みずき, Kabushiki-gaisha Mizuki) on October 18, 1991 and then to Spike Co., Ltd. in April 1997. Spike sold its book publishing business to Aspect in March 1999, and Spike was acquired by Sammy in April. Spike established a game development subsidiary named Vaill (ヴァイル株式会社) which consisted of former Human staff in November 1999, and it was eventually absorbed back into Spike in July 2001. In 2005, Spike was bought by Dwango. In 2012, it merged with its sister company Chunsoft and became Spike Chunsoft. Two games were in development at the time of the merger: Conception: Ore no Kodomo o Undekure! and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.
