Développé par le studio Cuttlefresh sur RPG Maker MV, 1968 est un jeu d'aventure et de rôle sorti le 21 août 2020 sur PC (Microsoft Windows) et Mac. L'expérience place le joueur dans la peau d'un jeune garçon dont la mère s'est enfermée dans sa chambre, l'invitant à engager le dialogue avec elle pour faire avancer l'intrigue.
Côté réception, la presse a salué plusieurs aspects du titre. Arcade Sushi a souligné que l'œuvre « captures the mood of the 60’s well » et constitue un « quality title » aux contrôles décents et à la réalisation soignée. Pocket Gamer UK a pour sa part décrit un « charming and playable physics-based stunt racer » doté de « neat little touches » et d'un level design « largely excellent », bien que parfois perfectible. Du côté des joueurs, un utilisateur de Metacritic a apprécié ce « really nice minimalistic game » présenté en « beautiful grayscale » évoquant l'esthétique d'un vieux téléviseur des années 60.

« This is a really nice minimalistic game, all presented in beautiful grayscale that makes you think you actually watching from an old TV from the 60ies. I Love the fact that they have combined racing and puzzle together. The car can sometimes be a bit hard to handle but once you get the hold of it it's pure joy to make the little car do spins and perfect timing and landings to get the best time on every level. It's free of charge and a must-have in your game collection! »
