WANDER A VAST NETWORK OF MUNDANE HORRORS

Anemoiapolis finds horror in the familiar -- places so ordinary that film and TV usually avoid them. Experience the comfort of existential dread.
RUN, SWIM, JUMP, SLIDE, AND CLIMB TO FREEDOM
With nobody around to let you out, you'll have to forge your own path to the exit.
UTILIZE YOUR SURROUNDINGS
Push obstacles and smash windows -- whatever it takes to get to the next room.
SHORT CIRCUIT EVERYTHING
Put your puzzle skills to the test. Break into electrical panels to access new areas.
NAVIGATE DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENTS
Don't count on that door being there the next time you swing around. Things aren't always as they appear.
EXPLORE PROCEDURAL LABYRINTHS
This game is designed from the ground-up to make you lost and confused. If you feel like you're going in circles, then you're on the right track.
ABOUT
Anemoiapolis is developed by Andrew Quist, a solo developer who takes heavy inspiration from his Michigan hometown. Encouraged by forum posts in late 2020 about "liminal spaces" and "the backrooms", Anemoiapolis is a personal retelling of those concepts.

« The high of this game was the intro sequence, after you get through the first elevator it's downhill from there. I was literally able to find missing assets within the first half hour of me playing it. Several of the lights in the 'Backrooms' segment (through the free elevator) weren't visible but still emitted light, and it overall looked very unfinished and very empty. I get that it's probably meant to feel very empty to be scary and all, but it just wasn't, it was actually quite boring.I never got to the golfing segment because I couldn't get enough tickets from the starting room. You have to get lucky enough to find 20 tickets in the starting area by looking in the lockers without having any incentive to find them, and if you don't you have to restart the entire intro sequence (minus the surface segment) to find the tickets. I was expecting there to be some tickets in the free elevator area—nope! You have to keep replaying the first segment until you have enough tickets. Very unfinished, unpolished, and not one bit fun. »
« "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" An absolutely masterful study of the somber liminality of the human subconscious. Anemoiapolis somehow manages to capture the haunted memories that have somehow existed within us all since childhood - like the comforting terrors of being lost and alone in places that should not be seen after hours . . . Have I dreamt this reality? Or has my reality been a dream? »
