Cold Shot
Cold Shot est un jeu de tir et d’aventure sorti le 16 avril 2021 sur PC et Mac. Le joueur y incarne un tueur à contrat chargé d’une mission par une nuit froide. Sa cible, Spencer York, est un homme apparemment ordinaire vivant en périphérie d’une petite ville rurale. Après des heures de route, tout est en place pour terminer le travail rapidement : il ne reste qu’à presser la détente une fois de plus, comme tant de fois auparavant.
L’accueil des joueurs sur Metacritic souligne la singularité du titre dans un paysage vidéoludique jugé générique et répétitif. L’un d’eux salue des mécaniques simples mais parfaitement alignées avec l’expérience, tandis qu’un autre apprécie la brièveté du récit, capable en quelques lignes d’inscrire l’action dans une narration plus vaste.

« This game's a breath of fresh air in an industry crowded by generic and repetitive formulas. The mechanics may look simple, but they're perfectly aligned with an original visual design in order to create a wonderful oppressive atmosphere. I want to avoid any kind of spoiler, since the plot's the real gem of the game in my opinion, I can only say that it's shocking and wonderfully orchestrated. I strongly recommend this game to anyone seeking an original, short and intense gamming experience. »
« The premise is simple and the runtime is brief. However, in just a few lines it's able to place the action in a much bigger narrative, which leaves you with many more questions than answers. Who is the protagonist and what's his past? Who is the target and what went wrong? In the end, you're left with an uneasy feeling that you can't quite shake off, as any good horror game should. I'm looking forward for either a sequel or a prequel. »
