Sorti le 31 octobre 2000 en Amérique du Nord, Cool Boarders 2001 est un jeu de sport développé par Idol Minds et édité par Sony Computer Entertainment sur PlayStation et PlayStation 2. Il s'agit du seul opus de la série à avoir connu une exclusivité nord-américaine. Le titre propose vingt parcours variés ainsi que de nouveaux snowparks et riders professionnels, offrant plusieurs types d'épreuves telles que la descente ou la réalisation de figures. La progression s'articule autour de la compétition Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding, dont la victoire permet de débloquer des pistes et des planches supplémentaires.
Côté réception, la presse spécialisée s'est montrée très enthousiaste à sa sortie. Le magazine Hot Games l'a érigé en nouvelle référence de l'année, louant un « excellent jeu » procurant de « sérieuses sensations glacées ». De son côté, Gamezilla! l'a décrit comme le « jeu de snowboard le plus cool, élégant, méchant et addictif qui soit », estimant même qu'il détrônait le concurrent direct SSX. Pour venir à bout de l'intégralité du contenu, un joueur complétionniste doit compter environ six heures et demie de jeu.
