The gameplay of this game remains relatively unchanged from the original game. New modes on Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 3 include Tournament Mode, Relaxed Mode, DDR School, Hypermove Mode, and Wii Balance Board Modes. Returning modes include Free Play Mode and Training Mode. Dropped modes include the "Groove Circuit/Arena" Mode. It has been replaced with Tournament Mode. The use of hand markers have been removed from Free Play Mode. They are still existent in DDR School and Hypermove Mode, but are called Punch Markers.

« I love the Hottest Party games. The music, gameplay, and everything else is just amazing. Hottest Party kept on getting better and better until they stopped with the 3rd here in America, then they released Dance Dance Revolution (2010) and II. This game is a genuine MUST HAVE for Wii/Wii U owners looking for something to play. The gameplay is perfect, along with the music and difficulty. It's got something for everyone, including the story mode called "Groove Arena," which is the way to unlock songs. But they did a great job on it, making it not feel like a drag. 10/10 game. »
« This is the best DDR that the next gen consoles have to offer. I wish I could get some of the older songs like Tsugaru. Since my PS3 slim isn't backwards compatible, the hottest party titles are the best option if you only have your next-gen consoles. The previous 2 were very gimmick heavy, while this one is footpad only be default. The previous 2 title really got on my nerves with the gamey-mechanics that are less true to classic DDR. Hottest Party 3 really feels like the PS2 titles, and the music selection is better than the previous. This is a recommend for fans of the PS2 era DDR games. »
