DDRMax2: Dance Dance Revolution
Sorti le 17 avril 2002, DDRMax2: Dance Dance Revolution s'inscrit dans la lignée de la série Dance Dance Revolution, développée par Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo et Konami. Disponible sur PlayStation 2 et en arcade, ce titre mélange les genres arcade, simulation et musique. Le jeu permet aux joueurs de personnaliser leurs enchaînements de pas et de s'entraîner grâce à un mode Exercice innovant. La production propose un large éventail de chansons exclusives, de musiques sous licence et de hits dansants, ainsi que de nouveaux modes de jeu et des interfaces graphiques intégrant des clips musicaux. Des liens vers les épisodes précédents offrent par ailleurs des fonctionnalités spéciales.
L'accueil critique, reflété par une note agrégée de 70, souligne plusieurs points. Cinescape a salué l'amélioration visuelle, notamment la présence des clips vidéo en arrière-plan de certaines chansons. GamingTrend, tout en regrettant l'absence du mode Oni pour les passionnés de la série, reconnaît la richesse du jeu en matière d'options et de niveaux. Un joueur, s'exprimant sur Metacritic, affirme quant à lui qu'il s'agit de son entrée préférée dans la série, louant les meilleures stepcharts, la qualité musicale et le contenu additionnel.

« DDRMAX2 is without a doubt my favourite entry in the series! It has some of the best stepcharts, some of the best music, and quite a bit of extra content that will keep your feet on the dance pad until you can dance no more! Aside from a couple of stepcharts that lean into the jump arrows a bit too much (looking at you, So Deep on Standard difficulty), this is the DDR game I’d recommend to anyone, from beginners to experts. »
