Le titre propose une expérience musicale centrée sur la pop, mettant à l'honneur des artistes issus de l'écosystème Disney tels que les Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Jesse McCartney ou Taylor Swift, aux côtés de groupes comme Coldplay et One Republic.
La presse a globalement bien accueilli ce party game. Da Gameboyz le considère comme « another great party game title that fans should consider adding to their collection ». Playstation: The Official Magazine (US) souligne quant à lui que, « Apart from the tunes, Pop Hits manages to one-up SingStar with a sing-along mechanic that's visually easier to follow and acoustically more accurate », mettant en avant une mécanique de chant jugée plus lisible et précise que celle de son concurrent direct.
