« Fire Emblem Engage feels like a step backward in ways that this writer appreciates. Gone are the lessons, and in their place is a genuinely affecting story with plenty of whimsy and epic tactical conquests. It's a great way to kick off the year for the Switch, and also happens to be one of the best-looking games on the platform, too. »
« The only thing that I would change in Fire Emblem engage is the design of the protagonist. Her combination of red and blue does come across as excessively garish to me, even within the context of a very bright and colourful game. I’d keep her character, which is great, but just give her green twintailed hair or something. That’s it, though. That’s the only change I’d make. In every other way, Fire Emblem Engage is everything I love about Fire Emblem, bundled up in a way that does justice to both the classics that got me into the series, and the production values of modern gaming. Brilliant. »
« Fire Emblem Engage is amazing and a wonderful way for Nintendo to kick off 2023. »
« Fire Emblem Engage is a masterpiece of tactical gameplay design, with a gorgeous look, and depth most games can only dream of. »
« At least in my case, I can already tell you that the first candidate for Game of the Year has arrived, and boy did it arrive early. How much does 2023 hold for us if we are having such a special start? »
« Fire Emblem: Engage is a return to the more linear Fire Emblem style of storytelling while continuing the path that Fire Emblem: Three Houses began with the graphics and combat upgrades. The game feels fresh and new while also paying homage to Fire Emblem’s storied past with the inclusion of iconic characters in the Emblem Rings such as Marth, Roy, Lyn, and more. With a collection of adorable characters you’re sure to cry when you lose them and a story that has its fair share of twists and turns; new and old Fire Emblem fans can find something to enjoy about this game. It’s a story of friendship, family, and doing whatever you can to save the ones you love; Fire Emblem. »
« Fire Emblem Engage is one of Nintendo's best games in years, and a much more polished release than Fire Emblem: Three Houses which I loved. While it suffers in its story compared to recent releases, it is still an essential for tactical RPG fans. It also happens to be a gorgeous game that shines on the OLED Switch display. »
« Fire Emblem: Engage will be welcomed by longtime fans who’ve felt disenfranchised by the direction of recent Fire Emblem games. The battlefields are clever and challenging, the visuals are outstanding, and the social stuff—although mostly unnecessary—isn’t so invasive as to bog down gameplay. The story may be perfunctory, but it’s hard to care when you’re having so much fun unleashing Twin Strike on your enemies. »

« The gameplay is great, but the story and characters leave a lot to be desired in some ways. »
« ire Emblem Engage is a mechanical masterpiece that delivers some of the best tactical combat in the entire series. By shifting the focus away from social simulation and back to the battlefield, it introduces the brilliant Emblem Ring mechanic, allowing for deep customization and spectacular, flashy combat animations. However, its biggest flaw is that it isn't available on **** game’s vibrant anime art style and complex strategy menus are begging for the power and precision of modern PC hardware. Keeping this gem locked as a Nintendo Switch exclusive feels like a massive missed opportunity for strategy fans who prefer high resolutions and smoother frame rates.Ultimately, it’s a must-play tactical RPG—it’s just a shame you can't play it on your desktop. »
« Fire Emblem Engage is a top-tier tactical RPG. While the narrative may feel a bit thin compared to Three Houses, the plot twists—including those in the DLC expansion—are genuinely engaging and enjoyable.Where this game truly shines is its combat. The gameplay has evolved significantly, with the "Engage" system adding a deep layer of strategy that is both tactically rewarding and incredibly satisfying to execute. My only real complaint is the lack of a traditional "New Game Plus" carry-over system, but overall, it is an outstanding SPRG that shouldn't be missed. »
« By far the WORST Fire Emblem game, I regret buying it. The game has all the things I hate most in Fire Emblem games with barely any of the ones I love, making me drop it on chapter 8, so I am heavily biased. The game was a tribute to the origins for the 30th anniversary. The story (until chapter 8) is a more traditional good vs evil, which I don't really mind, but the conversations and characters are extremely simple with almost no depth. Somniel was a drag, trying to force you to go around doing things (that grew boring after the first couple of times) for Bond points and extra stats for the next battle. Not to mention the conversations with characters (except a few exceptions each chapter) didn't even change to reflect the story progression. The stat growth rates were atrocious, didn't ever think it would be possible to get a total of 10 stat increases for 6 character level ups in one map, like seriously?? The ability to change all characters into any class (minus the unique ones), coupled with the Emblem Rings, makes it annoyingly complicated for me. I understand that a lot of people enjoy free customization of every characters, but I found myself having to read guides for even a simple class change. The battles were hard (I played in Classic Hard), more than the average Fire Emblem game. While I wouldn't have minded the challenge, the complicated customization, along with the abysmal growth rates brought my interest for the game really down. Finally, the last straw was the lack of shared endings between characters, which I considered the best thing in Fire Emblem games. The moment I found out only Alear gets to have a share ending with a character of your choice, I completely lost any interest I had on this game. I am really sad I had to drop a Fire Emblem game, but I guess that's life. »
« Trash copy gameplay vary bad story everything bad fk you Nintendo HGGGGFFFFDX »
« While Fire Emblem Engage is a disappointing follow up to its predecessor, Three Houses, the gameplay is fantastic and the cast is wonderfully charming. The main weakness are its bad story and lack of extra features previous iterations had. »
« Absolutely fantastic, I've enjoyed this game so much it's even hard to describe. Don't let the complainers on YT shape your opinion on the game instead try it out! For a long time I hadn't played Fire Emblem, I stopped playing when Three houses came out, sorry for fans of this game but back then it didn't call to me for some reason. When Fire Emblem Engage was out I didn't even know it existed, but asked it as a birthday gift. When I eventually got around playing it, it re-lit my entire love for Fire Emblem with fond memories of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, I was enjoying myself so much with this game that after I finished it I actually purchased three houses, and echoes and Shadow Dragon. Had I not played engaged I might not have played these other Fire Emblem titles. The game feels so positive to me, I truly engaged :'DThe story is overall fine, I enjoyed it, I don't get why people are whining about it on YT as much as they do. Not every Fire Emblem needs to be over complicated in story, a simply story is good as well to me. I also felt like a lot of YT reviews seemed to not understand the story or seemed to miss key details you would get if you followed the story v.v Characters were engaging, some goofy but it worked, it really got me to feel so much more positive in life, yeah I don't know what this game did to me but I became Fire emblem obsessed x'D Graphics are gorgeous, for all those complaining it's to anime like, i'm sorry .... Fire emblem style wise always looked like bloody anime :'D I don't get that one. The colors are gorgeous, and again not every Fire emblem needs to be alike, Three houses was more dull in color and for it's story and such that worked, but for me who generally loves color, I can only say it was a feast to the eyes. Gameplay is SUPER fun, I cannot express just how much fun I had in this game XD Also emblems, you bet I was happy to see my boy Ike in this game haha XD Music, love it, then again Fire emblem and music has always been pretty good to me ^^ I recommend the game, Hiya papaya »
