MVP Baseball 2004
MVP Baseball 2004, sorti le 9 mars 2004 sur PlayStation 2, Xbox et Nintendo GameCube, est édité par EA Sports et appartient aux genres simulation et sport. Le jeu pousse la franchise plus loin avec des modèles de joueurs réalistes, des stades et des joueurs historiques, une compatibilité avec le système EA Sports Bio et un mode franchise amélioré.
Le gameplay introduit un contrôle de frappe avancé permettant de placer la batte où l’on veut, ainsi qu’un contrôle total sur le terrain : saut par-dessus le mur pour voler un coup de circuit, glissade pour éviter un tag ou encore percution du receveur au marbre. La gestion d’équipe s’étend des ligues mineures aux ligues majeures, avec la possibilité de jouer les matchs ou d’endosser le rôle de manager.
L’accueil critique est favorable, avec un score Metacritic de 82 et une note agrégée de 85,76. GamePro a salué une amélioration sans précédent pour un jeu de sport, tandis que Play Magazine a mis en avant le mode Dynasty remanié, le nouveau système de frappe et le Big Play Control, décrivant le jeu comme un package complet. Certains joueurs ont également exprimé leur enthousiasme, à l’image d’un acheteur sur Metacritic conquis après avoir trouvé le jeu à bas prix.
