Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends
Nintendogs: Chihuahua & Friends, développé et publié par Nintendo, est sorti le 21 avril 2005 sur Nintendo DS dans le cadre d'un jeu de simulation en temps réel mettant en scène des chiens virtuels. Cette version fait partie des trois éditions initiales du titre, aux côtés de Dachshund & Friends et Lab & Friends. Le jeu exploite l'écran tactile et le microphone de la console portable pour caresser les animaux, utiliser des objets ou leur apprendre des ordres, et il s'appuie sur l'horloge interne de la machine pour faire évoluer leur faim et leur propreté. Classé dans le genre simulation, il a été salué par la critique, même si certains joueurs sur Metacritic y voient aujourd'hui une formule tamagotchi canine mignonne mais limitée, tout en reconnaissant son aspect révolutionnaire à l'époque de sa sortie.

« This was revolutionary for its time, taking the tamagotchi formula and expanding it into adorable digital dogs. Nowadays it isn't anything fancy, many of its mechanics are considered basics of "pet minigames," but that's because the formula here was so solid. The dogs had real character and it was fun to take care of them, which is really all you can ask for »
