Machinima 85/100

« The developers have masterfully adapted everything that made the original Painkiller so enjoyable to a new engine that looks fantastic and plays liquid smooth. »

Destructoid 80/100

« If nothing else, Farm 51 has returned Painkiller to a title that people may no longer grimace at when they hear its name. After receiving much abuse from its original publisher, Farm 51 has put Painkiller back on its pedestal. Or, close enough. »

Eurogamer Italy 80/100

« Painkiller Hell & Damnation stands halfway between a remake of the original game and a brand new FPS. Same levels, no changes and a new story, it tries to purpose for a second time the first, cult game. Unfortunately, even with the Unreal Engine it feels like it's hundred years old. »

CD-Action 75/100

« When I finished this curious remake ('the best of Painkiller' suits this game better) all the flaws that I jotted down and that annoyed me ceased to matter. There's something charming in this simplicity. [12/2012, p.42] »

GRYOnline.pl 75/100

« Painkiller: Hell & Damnation brings no shame to the original game. Guys from The Farm 51 took their job seriously and tried to freshen up the series the best way possible. Younger gamers have the opportunity to look how FPS games looked almost a decade ago, and older gamers get to go back in time but with really nice graphics. Hell & Damnation, despite old mechanics - is a game that's worth checking out. Killing hordes of demons is very pleasant. »

Cheat Code Central 74/100

« It's certainly a feast for the eyes and is probably the superior way to get introduced to the game. If you are a fan of the original, on the other hand, you are essentially paying $20 to play a far prettier, slightly shorter, somewhat adapted version of what you have already played. »

Gaming Nexus 74/100

« While the game is true to its roots the game just doesn't hold up compared to other remade FPS games like Serious Sam. »

Vandal 72/100

« Perfect for those who're looking for simple and plain action that will leave you exhausted. There are few additions compared to the original release, but it is indeed the best option to relive or to discover this frenetic series. »

« Old school shooter. Good story good gameplay the guns are the same as in the old version with upgraded graphics. Great soundtrack. The only complain i have about this game is the AI and enemy spawn locations. They can literally spawn in front of you and it's frustrating and the AI is so bad they cannot use cover or protect themselves they just run towards you. Overall a great game played myself no coop »

« Powered by Epic's world-renowned and highly-respected Unreal Engine 3, Painkiller Hell & Damnation recreates the sensations and hardcore gameplay of the orig »

JaydenPickens 4/10

« This is not a remaster. This is not a reboot. This is a weird baby, that mother tried to drown, but it just kept coming back. Hell & Damnation is kinda a sequel. It's on a new engine made by new people, but it doesn't offer anything new and it actually worsens the game in the process. Most of the music is good... but that's because it's from the ORIGINAL Painkiller game. The new tracks are hit or miss... depends. The second problem is the graphics... they are worse than the original. The third problem is the optimization. Game doesn't work that well. The biggest problem of Hell & Damnation are the levels. The game has 11 levels. All of the levels that Hell & Damnation has can be found in the original game and the battle out of hell expansion pack. Original had 24 levels, Battle Out Of Hell expansion added additional 10. If you bought Painkiller Black Edition back in the 2005/2006, you had 34 levels and an amazing classic game. Hell & Damnation has 11 levels and all the other levels are available as DLC and they are expensive. If you buy all the DLCs for this game you'll lose a lot of money and you will gain nothing in return, because same stuff (actually more) is found in Painkiller Black Edition. Actually by getting Black Edition you're getting a better version of the game with better graphics and all levels intact. This is just a sad reskin and a big cash grab. The only good thing about this game is the CO-OP which saves this game from a 0/10 rating. If you want to play with a friend then get this, if you want to play alone, then NEVER BUY THIS. Buy the BLACK EDITION instead which is Painkiller + Battle Out Of Hell. Also they somehow made the game easier as hell. Playing on nightmare is like playing original Painkiller on insomnia... what a joke. Pickens condemns! »

« Not perfect remake of the best old school FPS,but better than Resurrection,Redemption and Recurring Evil »
