This game is a strategic card based wargame with deckbuilding elements and the detailed tutorials will take you through how to play the game. As it was built to be a game that offered a lot of strategic options during a mission it is not a simple deckbuilder but is a game that requires thought and a bit of time to learn its mechanics.

Overview

Siberian Dawn is an original, solo, digital card game that combines the core soul of a deck builder with the tactical power of a war game and the strategic challenge of crisis management.

You are an Overseer in the Union, one of the tactical controllers who has to deal with the increasing dangers facing the Union through Objective based Missions. Recruit and deploy Units, enlist the help of the Guilds, and build your Bond with those in the shadows, whilst trying to control the conflict unfolding before you.

The base game contains a detailed series of 4 interactive tutorials, that will take you through how to play the game, and then you can play the 4 Training Mission that are specially designed to be your first proper test of playing a mission.

After you have been through the training you can then tackle the V Missions, which are 3 full missions that tell a contained story and give you the full challenge of Siberian Dawn, with the full Union and Guild cards available to you.

The base game also contains Skirmish mode, a more combat orientated mission where you have to kill X Rank worth of enemy in 30 Rounds. There are 2 Skirmish missions available in the base game, and a Skirmish 0 which takes all the content owned and mixes in all together in an epic challenge.

Beyond the base game are the Mission Packs available as DLC, which each one adding 3 new full Missions of the Siberian Dawn story and 1 Skirmish mission unique to that DLC. All the content in the DLC packs will also be added to Skirmish 0 to make that even more crazy.

The World

In Siberian Dawn you play the part of an Overseer in the Union, an industrial state covering what we know as Europe. Overseers are the tactical experts of the Union and responsible for quickly dealing with troubles as they arise using a limited resource pool, controlled squad level force, and possible support from the Guilds. Siberian Dawn has a heavy character driven setting, in a gritty near future military world that mixes in medieval and supernatural horror elements to the theme.

The game starts as hostility has been growing in Industrial Habit IH-54 of the Eastern Zones for the last few weeks. Outcasts are rumoured to have been stirring up this dissent and it is believed they are connected to a cult called the Dawn, Overseers have been assigned to deal with this unrest and you are one of them. Each Mission will give the Overseer a series of Objectives to complete which have variety and offer the Overseer different challenges during the Mission. Missions will be playable individually but also form a narrative story as the Overseer uncovers the truth of the Dawn and how deep secrets go within the Union and Guilds.

Mission Example

An example Training mission in the base game is First Run, which is aimed to give you a taste of Siberian Dawn and the basics of a Mission. The Objectives in this Mission will take you through the steps towards the final Objective to kill the 4 VBots, the Missions in Mission Pack 1 and those to follow will contain multiple Objectives offering a longer more challenging game. First Run also contains 2 Units, the Grunt and the Scribe. The Grunt is your basic Union military Unit that will be used to attack the VBots, and the Scribe is a Guild support Unit who will help you gain Glory. Full Missions add 18 new Units to these 2 basic ones.

The ARK

The ARK is the meta section of the game representing your memories as an Overseer in Siberian Dawn. When you complete a mission you earn ARK Points and this is where you can use them to unlock memories and other elements that let you change your Siberian Dawn reality.

More than 80 Content Pods hold the data and lore for most of the cards in the game, which will give you insight into what these cards bring to Siberian Dawn, as well as expanding what you know about the world.

There are also a couple of modifications that can be activated in the ARK. Echoes is an option that can be activated in the ARK to change a basic event into one that for the cost of ARK Points will boost your Glory, and Nemesis is a special enemy that can turn up in a mission after you have killed the related Boss in Skirmish mode to give a greater challenge but with the reward of ARK points for killing them.

Lore Engine

Siberian Dawn is the first game to use the Lore Deck Building Engine, taking the core of a Deck Builder and adding the depth of a War Game to give the player a more strategic challenge.

Dual Deck Development – Build a Resource deck and Tactics deck.
Bond System – Adds 1 of 4 Guild specific contacts in a Mission (Available with Mission Pack 1)
Hub System – Context relevant controls presented on a central set of pods.
Fate Helix – Action resolution using a deck system allowing control over the risk of the results.
Multiple Resource Management – Overseer has to balance a range of Resources to succeed.
Tactical Range – Overseer has a range of distinct Units and Tactics to dominate the Missions.
Mission Variety – Each Mission has a series of Objectives to give a variety of challenges.

Update 7.7 - Dominance Arrives

The Focus ContinuesThe 2026 focus on Siberian Dawn continues at a pace with another update for you today that not only brings several improvements to the game but also adds a couple of significant mechanics to add to your arsenal of weapons in the fight against the Dawn. Update 7.7So let’s start with the headline addition and its complimentary addition. Previously in the game we had the Influence and Threat Level tracks giving you a Vitae penalty if the Hostile forces increased them above their limit. But you didn’t have any benefit if you pushed those tracks the other way. So if you were on 30 Influence and added more you gained nothing, and if the Threat Level was on 1 and you decreased it you gained nothing. Well now that is all changed. This update now adds Dominance to the game so that if the Union Influence on a Flank is increased above 30 the top Influence pod becomes a Dominance pod, and if this is clicked on during the Resource or Tactics phase then you will get the option to either Hold it, and use it later as long as the Union Influence on that Flank remains at 30, or to Use it and reduce the Threat Level by 1 for the cost of 10 Influence on that Flank. And the second addition, as you will see, is a perfect companion feature to Dominance. If the Threat Level is now reduced and it is already on 1 then you instead gain 4 Vitae. So you can setup a nice combo of Dominance reducing Threat and gaining Vitae. The next big update here is for training and information presentation. The Help Overlays have been refined and updated to include Dominance and other added features affecting the game. And the text for the First Tutorial has been examined again and any areas where it could be improved or expanded, to provide a clearer experience for learning the basics of a mission, has been completed. I will continue this with the rest of the Tutorials in the next update. If you are new to the game or still trying to get to grips with it then the First Tutorial is the best place to start and as it has now been improved there is no better time to do that.Other improvements along with the continued code clean up, started with Update 7.5, include changing the default pulse graphic setting from All Pulses On to now be Display Pulse Off so that by default the text boxes do not pulse but the overlays do pulse. Changed that if a Deployed Union unit on 1 Life is performing an action and the Fate drawn injures them then their card will now not be removed until the action is resolved to help communication of what is going on. And Frozen Units now only show the return option during the Resource Phase. Deckbuilders FestSiberian Dawn is also taking part in the Steam Deckbuilders Fest between May 4th - 11th so check that out and pick up any missing DLC as they all have a big discount during this event. And more importantly play the game, and maybe let me and others know what you think of the improvements and where we are going with Siberian Dawn... Blood is coming. Winterflood

Update 7.5 - A Prelude to an End

A New Focus2025 started as a year of big plans of which many still remain. I got a lot of work done on the new dream game and that is now at a stage where I can build card decks and craft actual dreams. I also looked at making PC versions of my first two Android games, and they look like possible future endeavours. And Siberian Dawn sat and chilled through the year, taking a break.Letting a game rest for a while is a good thing as it lets me come back to it with a fresh pair of eyes, with new thoughts and ideas gained from working on other things like the dream game. And so as 2016 dawned and I thought about what I would plan this year, and not wanting to make many plans that then ended up not finished like 2025, I decided to finish Siberian Dawn’s story this year. The dream game can put its feet up and chill for a while to allow me to return to it with a fresh energy later and I will now focus on Siberian Dawn, completing original plans and bringing Chapter 2 to you.Since the start of the year, and this change of focus, I have started working of the prelude updates that will lead up to the eventual release of the massive Chapter 2 update. This involves looking at the various parts of the game with those fresh eyes I mentioned, and the new energy with this return, looking for any areas the can be enhanced for the benefit of the game. I am also going through and tidying up 13 years worth of code, removing any obsolete elements and updating any outdated code. This year also marks the 8th anniversary of Siberian Dawn on Steam and it is also approaching update 8.0, a nice coincidence that may need to be exploited.Update 7.5So enough talk of the plans, what do I have for you with this first 7.5 prelude update today? Well the first additions is something that has probably been the most requested addition for the game. Working on the dream game I built a deck view that showed 10 cards on screen rather than the single card view that was in Siberian Dawn, and so one of the first things I considered with this return to developing Siberian Dawn was could I bring that expanded view over from the dream game. So with a lot of careful coding we now have an expanded deck view in the game, which can be toggled with the single card view. This improves the viewing of a deck a great deal so I am glad that is now in there. Other enhancements that came with this update include now darkening the game screen when any sub hub is open to improve focus, and some alterations to the Market Pods to make the Unit markets clearer to navigate and changed how the Swap button is displayed, as can be seen below. This pod adjustment means that all the other Unit markets stay visible so you don't have to use the arrow pods, remembering which market is next or previous, something that will become more important when the new Chapter 2 Unit markets are added.SaleSo welcome back to Siberian Dawn, I have big plans for it this year to complete its uniqueness and finish its story and I hope you come along with me on the reenergised journey back to the Union and the mysteries of the Dawn, and discovering just what is the Siberian. There is now also a sale on, so a great time to complete your Union Bundle and pick up what your missing, and get back to defending our glorious Union.Winterflood

Birthday Celebrations

It is that time of the year again where we celebrate the birthday of our glorious Head Overseer, the one who created Siberian Dawn and caused us all such headaches of a strategic nature over the last 7 years. But how are we going to celebrate this wonderful occasion you might ask, or not? Well we are going to have the biggest sale of Siberian Dawn ever with a 50% discount on the game and DLC until the 30th May. We are also going to share some news on what our glorious Head Overseer is working on for the future. The next deck building card game, the Dream project, is going well with the core program completed, and he is now building the first dream so he can see how the mechanics are working together in an actual game. Our Head Overseer has also started to put together the structure for Siberian Dawn Chapter 2, the conclusion of the Siberian Dawn story, as all stories really need to be completed. And he is also continuing to work on his epic 9 novel fantasy series, which has been ongoing for a few years now since the first one was published, but he still enjoys working on it and all the twisted ideas he is adding so one year it might all see the light. So enjoy the celebrations. Winterflood
