12 Minutes review
There's a puzzle in adventure game Gabriel Knight 3 infamous for being so illogical, the cat hair mustache has become the bad puzzle that all others are compared against—the pinnacle of design that makes you ask yourself "How the hell was I ever supposed to think of that?" I had that exact feeling half a dozen times while playing 12 Minutes, which uses a time loop to let you live out its frustrating and obtuse puzzles again and again and again... Read more.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Twelve Minutes is an immaculate construction of narrative that manages to take an extremely compact apartment space and spin an incredibly substantial story in it. Every thread seems to lead to two more, and each one feels satisfying to complete as you head towards the final loop. The voice talents are on point, the gameplay fits remarkably well, and every loop is a new adventure. I implore you to take the time to check this one out, as Twelve Minutes is worth every minute you’ll spend with it. »
« Twelve Minutes had me on a rollercoaster ride from start to finish. I started being let down by the game seeming too simple in premise. Then I got frustrated because I got stuck uncovering its hidden complexities. Finally, I can't and don't want to put it down until I'd turned everything over thrice. It executes the time loop mechanic meticulously, its story is twisting and turning constantly, and the excellent voice cast, environmental art, and music work together to create a new type of adventure game. It is not perfect, and you see some cut corners, but what it sacrifices, it makes up for with a satisfying payoff as you delve deeper into its time loop to unravel the mystery at the core. »
« Warren Spector, director of Deus Ex, has said that he would like to make a game focused entirely on one city block because the small space would allow for unmatched mechanical depth. 12 Minutes reduces Spector's scope further, and finds a rich vein for interaction and storytelling. This game may limit its loop to 12 minutes, but I found myself wishing I could stay for much, much longer. »
« A miniature time loop thriller that will burrow into your frontal lobe and stay there long after you've solved the mystery. »
« 12 Minutes is easily one of the best games of the year. I was surprised by how quickly it grabbed me, and it maintained that hold until the end. It feels like nearly every loop ends with an exciting cliffhanger that leaves you rushing to start the cycle over again. It can be a bit difficult to maintain focus when you’re stuck on a puzzle and you find yourself beating your head against the wall in search of a solution, but those breakthrough moments are more than worth the trouble. »
« Twelve Minutes manages to do something much more complicated than it seems: bring an innovative idea to fruition. Its plot, with surprising script twists and told at a very good pace, is actively developed by the player, who has to carefully measure the interactions between objects, the conversations they have and their actions within a time-loop structure based on in the acquisition of knowledge in each attempt. All this in a very accessible game except for some situation that requires an unclear interaction, one of its few black points along with the small technical errors that occur in a fantastic audiovisual section. The first work that Luis Antonio signs as an independent developer is one of those games that have the privilege of staying in our memory. »
« 12 Minutes is a welcome and delicious experience, inspired in the mystery classics by some of the best masters. It can make us feel the entire spectrum of emotions and making us think on how we deal with the truth, while navigating with equal artisanship through various genres. The small imperfections that you may find are the sign of a limited production team, but they are insignificant and incapable of meddling in this claustrophobically welcoming journey. »
« 12 Minutes is a brilliant, complex, dense and very smart point and click adventure, which amazes each time you play it, thanks to its many, many branches. Served by a talented and rightfully toned cast, 12 Minutes is a rare and outstanding experience all the way. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« An interactive thriller game where, unless you look up a guide, it becomes an absolute life-drainer of a puzzle. »
« **Twelve Minutes** is a game with a complex story and deeply intricate, puzzle-focused gameplay, full of environmental details that have impressed many, including Kojima. I played it based on his recommendation, and it has one of the most surprising and brilliant endings I’ve ever experienced—so shocking it gives you goosebumps. The gameplay is perfect for detective-style gamers, packed with environmental details and freedom to experiment with every **** what’s the story about? You play as an ordinary man arriving home. Your wife greets you, you share dessert, and the night seems calm—until there’s a knock at the door. Your wife opens it, and a bald man with a beard posing as a cop bursts in, saying, “You killed your father-in-law!” He ties up your wife, and when you try to intervene, you get beaten and die… only to wake up at the beginning of the night again. You realize you’re stuck in a time loop and must figure out who actually killed your wife’s father to break the **** dialogues are masterful, the voice acting is phenomenal, and the ending is absolutely chilling. This game is a true masterpiece in every sense! »
« It's not that bad, it's just that it's hard on my brain. The game really dragged me out and I spent 6 hours in it in a row. »
« You know how sometimes in RPGs you walk up to a character and they have like 6 dialogue options? And each of those dialogue options lead to new dialogue options? Imagine that, except every time you want to try a new dialogue option, you have to play the game from the beginning again. That's what this game feels like. Despite that, I was still able to enjoy this game. The story was interesting enough and there are a lot of interesting little details to explore. You start to think more and more possibilities as you discover new branches of the game. What if hide this object before I talk to her? What if I did the same things, but in a different order? What if I don't do anything at all, and then do the same thing? It's fun to live in a time loop just to explore the different outcomes. Unfortunately, there are a lot of outcomes that end in the same, generic way. The biggest and most obvious flaw of this game is the choppiness and lack of good flow. You'll find yourself skipping through voice lines for 90% of the game, leading to an experience that just sounds like "I didn-" "Okay. He-" "Ye-" "I can't believe this is ha-" and so on and so forth. The A-list voice cast is wasted on extremely choppy dialogue and transitions. And the animation. It's bad. And it's accentuated by such a stellar voice acting job. Imagine Willem Dafoe delivering his lines in a very dramatic way while bobbing his head like a Sims character. Look, I still said I enjoyed this game. The story was very intriguing at times but ultimately has a major plot hole and escalates to something that tries to be shocking but ends up just feeling really weird. The overall UX of the game is very cumbersome and takes away from the mood of the game but I was not annoyed to the point of ending my playthrough. Get this game on sale, or don't play it at all. Play Outer Wilds or Broken Age instead. EDIT: I've changed my mind. This game has a lot of problems. But I enjoyed it and I do want others to play it. Changed from MODERATELY BAD to MODERATELY GOOD. Verdict: MODERATELY GOOD »
« I don't get people complaining over repetition. The whole premise of the game is that you're in a time-loop, you should have come in expecting that. The things that bother me are that some triggers don't make sense. Like some where your character knows everything they have to and set up everything but you had to NOT touch something for it to work. Because getting it out of your pocket is too much I guess ? The ending didn't disturb me. If you have a pathological need for a perfect and happy ending, don't buy, that's all. »
« Ótimo jogo de mistério e quebra cabeça. A história é bem legal quando também »
